Utopia Youth Tutoring ("UYT", "we") provides one-on-one tutoring for K-12 students. Protecting students and families is the foundation of this platform. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the rights parents and guardians have.
We collect only what tutoring requires: parent/guardian contact details; student first and last name, grade level, school, subjects, learning preferences, and any support needs a parent chooses to share; session schedules, tutor progress reports, and practice-test results; and messages exchanged inside the platform.
We never collect student email addresses (student accounts use system-generated portal identifiers that cannot receive mail), biometric information, Social Security numbers, political or religious affiliation, or precise location. We use no advertising networks, no third-party analytics, and no tracking cookies — the only cookies set are those required to keep you signed in.
Student accounts are created only after a parent or guardian applies and is approved, and only the parent controls the student's sign-in credentials. Parents may review their student's information, correct it, or ask us to delete it at any time. We do not permit students to make their information public, and student messaging is limited to their matched tutor, their parent, and UYT staff.
Student information is used solely to deliver tutoring: matching with an appropriate tutor, scheduling, progress reporting, and practice assessments. We do not sell personal information, do not use it for targeted advertising, and do not build profiles for any purpose other than tutoring.
Access is role-restricted and enforced at the database level. A tutor sees only the students they are actively matched with. A parent sees only their own family's records. Students see their own materials and cannot see other students. UYT administrators can access records for operations and safety, and platform messages may be reviewed by UYT staff for student safety.
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Every database table enforces row-level security; privileged operations are audit-logged; files are private by default and shared only through expiring links. We review our security posture with automated advisors and address findings promptly.
We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run the platform: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Vercel (application hosting), Mailgun (email delivery), and Stripe (payment processing — payment card details are handled by Stripe and never touch our servers). Each processes data only on our instructions.
We keep records only as long as a family or tutor has an active relationship with UYT, plus any period required by law. Parents and guardians may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their family's information by contacting us; we honor verified requests within 30 days.
If a breach affects personal information, we will notify affected families and any partnering school or district without unreasonable delay, consistent with Florida law.
Where UYT works with a school or district, we act under the school's direct control with respect to education records, use them only for the contracted tutoring purpose, and are glad to execute a student data privacy agreement (including the Florida SDPC agreement) on request.
